Matthew Lynch is a Rockport native and a 2003 graduate of Rockport-Fulton High School. He returned home in 2015 to join the Aransas-Corpus Christi Pilots and has raised four children here with his wife.
His family's roots run deep on both sides — through the Picton, Rouquette and Lynch families. His grandfather Harold Hynes Picton was appointed to serve as an Aransas County Commissioner in 1992, and his grandfather Frank Lynch founded Lynch Appraisal Services.
Today, as a harbor pilot who guides vessels through the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, Matthew knows our waterways firsthand — and he's ready to put that experience to work for the community that raised him.

The Navigation District holds some of the most important land and marine assets of our entire community, and the purpose of those properties is to benefit the citizens of Aransas County. If I am given the privilege to serve as your new Commissioner-at-Large, it is my promise to improve the relationship between the Navigation District and the City of Rockport so both can work together professionally with a united mission to improve our County and make decisions and strategic partnerships that support and benefit our entire community.
Our harbor is the front porch of Rockport-Fulton — the first thing visitors see and a place our families have loved for generations. It deserves to be cared for like the treasure it is. If I earn your vote, it would be my honor to work to make Rockport Harbor cleaner, safer, and more beautiful: a well-maintained public asset that reflects the pride of the community it serves and welcomes everyone who comes to our waterfront.
Public trust is earned in the open. This is your District — funded by your tax dollars and entrusted with your public assets — and you have every right to know how it is run. If given the privilege to serve, I will work to bring real transparency to the Navigation District: clear, accessible information about what we are doing, honest answers about why decisions are made, and full accountability for how public money and property are managed.
Rockport-Fulton's character is our greatest inheritance, and our waterfront is our greatest opportunity — we can honor both. If elected, it would be my honor to champion responsible development that grows our economy and strengthens our working waterfront while protecting the small-town character we love, always measured by one standard: a lasting public benefit for the people of Aransas County.
